Hey!
So... the Lord just pulled a fast one on me..... I'M GETTING TRANSFERED!! No joke, I have been crying so much since I got the phone call last night around 10:00 pm.... Sister N and I are so sad! But I have faith in the Lord. This is HIS work, and He's in charge! I think I'm just so sad because I've been here for so stinkin' long! Too many awesome things have happened here. This place will forever hold a deep place in my heart. I love the people here. I love the joy I have felt as I have labored in this part of my Lord's vineyard these past nine months.
Stephanie: We will be able to get her new address on Wednesday or Thursday. Call me on Thursday for it.
SO..... that means that you will have to send me the OTHER HALF of my package (hardy har har har) next week when I am able to email you my new address! If you already sent it Sister N can just take my package to the mission home and I can get it from there :) No biggie!
Me again: For Meg's half-way point we sent her a box that was only filled on one half. We sent her these things she mentions and wrote her our letters then ripped them down the middle so she only got half the stories. Jeff's was really funny. It read really great down the one half. It implies that I got lice in Primary and he may have broken his leg using the ladder to fix the cooler...
Seriously though..... We were laughing so hard at all of the HALF things in the box! Only half of my new cute earrings? One flip-flop? Half a box of cereal?? HALF LETTERS?! Pahahahahaha! Clever clever! You're all CRAZY, I tell you! I just can't believe I am halfway through!! And this is my first transfer! HAHAHAhA! The Lord sure does have a funny way of doing things :)
I loved the package though :) Thank you! As we were looking through it, Sister N said "So.... does this mean you'll get the other half at the END of your mission?" ... we busted up laughing! I sure hope not! ;)
Well, it's crazy. I actually feel ready to move on from here. I don't know what lies ahead, but I finally feel that I've accomplished all I needed to in this area. And I'm glad. There's still so much more to do, but that's how it'll always be.
This week has been wonderful. We were referred by the Elders to a lady named B. We met her last Friday night, where upon meeting her outside her house she broke down and told us she had just returned from the ICU and CPS... her children were just removed from her care.... oh how my heart broke for this complete stranger. I immediately hugged her and told her we were there to help her. She refused our help, but we insisted that we needed to help her. She told us her house is nearly condemn-able, and she needed some serious help getting it back in order so she can get her kids back. She showed us the inside and I couldn't believe it...
Let's just say that she has 6 cats, 1 cockatiel (poor thing), 4 kids, and 1 year of no cleaning. We came back on Saturday with cleaning supplies GALORE and got to work! I tackled the pantry and cupboards as Sister N scoured the dishes and sink area. 6 hours later the dishes were done, and the pantry was cleaned, gutted, and re-organized. How good it felt!
Last night she called us and said to not come over. We ignore the voicemail and went over anyway. She's suffering a great deal of depression and we felt strongly to go over anyway. We did and convinced her to let us in. We talked, consoled, and encouraged her to go take a hot shower as we cleaned. We turned on the lights, brought in the Spirit through our joyful singing as we cleaned, and B's spirits were lifted. She even did some laundry, took a shower, and went out shopping for food while we were there! Motivation. Love it! After starting over in the oven area, I decided to clean out the cockatiel cage. He's very pretty; all gray and white! His name is Grayson. We became fast friends as I scoured his cage, changed everything, and refreshed his food and water. She's looking for a new home for him....
Anyway, it's been SO FUN to clean that place up! It feels so good when we're done there! Gosh, I love it!
I love this work. When we're lost in the service of others we can gain so much joy in our own lives.
Well, I look forward to calling you on Mother's Day! I'll let you know what time I'll be calling. I have to figure that all out now... :) YAY!
I love you all so much!
Go out and serve someone this week: You'll receive great blessings for it!
HURRAH! HURRAH! HURRAH FOR ISRAEL!
