April 23, 2012

Hello!

Wow, so this week has truly been up and down for me... We had some amazing miracles happen, and at the same time had some pretty hard things occur...Let's just say that Friday was NOT a good day for me...

I'll just start with some frustrating things and THEN we can get to the good stuff: B, our new investigator, decided to not get baptized after all. She called us up early Friday morning and said that she no longer desired to meet with us. She felt that she needed to look at her other options before going through with anything. I was so sad! :(

Shortly afterwards, N (our investigator who's on date for May 12th) texted us and said that she isn't sure anymore about baptism, either. She didn't want to meet with us, and did not want to attend church with us. Again; disappointed and heartbroken.

We continued through the day, appointments cancelling left and right, and nothing going right. One of our investigators, W, was a no-show to our appointment because he was protesting who-knows-what up in Phoenix... I hope it's not for the Temple up there, because that would be ironic AND sad. It was 99*-100* that day and to add a cherry on top of it all we had someone honk at us... and not in a nice way. :/

(sorry for the vent-session)

So, I was discouraged.  We drove to A's rest home (the sweet 94 year old member whom we still visit regularly). Her TV was on, muted, but still visible from where I sat. Trying to avoid the TV screen's glare I noticed out of the corner of my eye a newscast that read "The debate on legalizing mary-jane". My heart continued to sink... my hope and faith in this world seemed to be failing...

But as A noticed my stare at the TV screen she said from her bed "Dearest Sister Moore: don't worry. The Lord will take care of the righteous. He will bless us. You've had a hard day. Tell me all about it..."

She was just what I needed that day. As we shared our day and a little spiritual message with her my heart was filled with peace. This world is turning more and more wicked, and it literally filled my heart with anguish that day. But I was then re-filled with hope. By hearing her testimony I was again filled with the peace I needed.

Friday was a trying day, but as I said my night prayers my faith was re-kindled.

How I love this Gospel of Jesus Christ. It turns lives around. It gives us the greatest blessings of peace and comfort that we could ever even in the midst of turmoil and trouble.

That next morning (Saturday) the T Zone went to a poor little town for a giant service project to clean up the town. It felt so good to be in a new day and to be in the service of others! Even if it WAS 101*!! (wooo!!)

My weekend ended wonderfully; four new investigators out at church, and B, little L's older brother, is officially getting baptized! (date still pending)

Oh, the ups and downs of a mission. Gotta love it!

I hope you are all enjoying your nice weather! I can no longer rub it in your faces how nice the weather is.... here we go summer! It's been in the 100's the past few days, and SURPRISINGLY, I'm not phased by it. It feels "warm" to me.

Greeeat... I'm turning into a local! ;) Hahahaha!

Anyway, I love you all so much!
Never forget that even in the middle of this crazy world you can find peace. And that peace comes from our Savior Jesus Christ. I stand as a witness to that.

Till next week:
HURRAH! HURRAH! HURRAH FOR ISRAEL!
* * *
Love, Sister Sunscreen
