April 16, 2012

Mi familia,

Nope. No package. :( It's just so weird!)

Mom: The secretary from the Mission Home called tonight and said that Meg wanted her to call me and let me know that she found her Easter package. It was at the apartment office. Apparently I forgot to put the apartment # on the box.  I am thankful she found it!

And hey.... sorry about the post-it letter this past week... seriously, though... being stuck in the 15 passenger "Action Van" with all of the  Zone Elders for an hour and a half with NO paper.... let's just say you learn to improvise pretty quickly! Haha! Good times..

This week I'll be better. Real letters this time :)

So last Monday we picked up a new investigator named B. She is such a sweet girl! She's 22, single mom of a super cute 3 year old and she was a referral from some Elders in another state. She just moved here out of an abusive relationship and is ready for baptism! We've only been meeting with her for a week, and already we've seen so much progress! She is getting baptized April 30th!!

It was so sweet; we were sitting outside having our lesson with her when her daughter came outside to play. Curious as to what was going on, her daughter came over and asked, "Mommy? What are you doing?". B smiled and said, "I'm learning about our Heavenly Father!". She smiled and said "I know!" and she climbed in her mom's lap to listen. She's 3... and she sat and listened to us explain the Plan of Salvation to her mom. What a sweet moment it was!

B and her daughter came to church yesterday and we brought along some coloring pages and games to keep the little one reverent. I just have to say: I LOVE FILE FOLDER GAMES!! Back in October the Relief Socitey had the Super Saturday and someone brought a ton of File Folder games for all of us to take and make.... I took some... and oh my goodness, they are AWESOME. I spent time making the Noah and the Ark one, and also the Book of Mormon hero match-up. Mom, if you can find some more, can you send them to me? We have contact paper and velcro sticky's, and I can find cheap folders... I just need the actual games to color and cut out! If you do, let me know :) THANKS!

It's actually funny: There's a myth in our mission that all the sisters have an extra hour to make arts and crafts. It's called "Sister Hour". One night as our District Leader made his nightly call to check up on us we were discussing our new-found file folder games! He and his companion asked "Where on earth do you have the time to do stuff like that?" I replied, "Sister hour! Duh." .........SILENCE........ "Wait....it's real??"  :)

(don't worry... we told them the truth)

But B is progressing so well! I'm so excited for her and her daughter! She's on the right path and she knows it!

G is struggling. He didn't make it to church this past week... He's going through a lot of relationship struggles. We stopped by his place Saturday night with our Ward Mission Leader to check up on him and invite him to church. He told us that never before in his life has he felt so at peace talking about religion with someone than he has with us and the members of the church. Our Ward Mission Leader asked him "You can already tell it's all true, don't you?" .... G nodded his head. We explained that whenever we are about to do something right, Satan will do everything he can to discourage us... "Yes he is!" G exclaimed. He's doing alright. Just a long weekend. Unfortunately, he decided to not come to church. Let's just pray he comes next week!

Anyway, I better go. I love you all so much! Stay true! Stay firm in the faith!

HURRAH! HURRAH! HURRAH FOR ISRAEL!  * * *
Love, Sister Meg (your favorite missionary EV-AR!)

PS- your package had pictures too?? AW MAN!!! I have been wanting photos for so long!! Dang. I really hope that package is found soon. We're good friends with our mailman, so I'll leave him a note and ask him :)
