Dearest loved ones,
I am doing fantastic! I am feeling a lot better, thank you :) This past week I had a massive STY in my eye! I have never had one before and the mission nurse thought I had pink eye (greeeeeaaaat...) so I went to the Dr and they said it was just a sty.. so they gave me some medicine and I got better super quick! I'll send you pics of what I looked like, though... it was awful. My eye was nearly swollen shut. It reminded me of Madds saying "Look mom! I'm winking at you!" HAHAHAHAHA!! Good times.... Good thing the church is true, and not completely based on what its missionaries may look like while out spreading the love.... oy.
But here is some sad news.... W was not baptized on Saturday. He got really nervous last minute and caved into drinking again. He was very embarrassed and didn't want us to come over and teach him anymore. But we went over anyway and just talked with him. We're annoyingly awesome like that. ;) We explained that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is CONTINUAL and that a slip-up doesn't mean it's the end. EVER. We discovered that there are some things he isn't as strong in testimony on, so we are taking some steps back and taking things slow. He still wants baptism; it's just not his time yet. And that's okay :) We will get there.
But get this! We have a girl named M who has wanted to be baptized since the beginning of this year! One thing though: she lives with her boyfriend, and they can't get married yet because his *current* wife is making the divorce process long and awful. We've talked with her about just moving out and living a clean life so she can be baptized, but the whole money issue kept creeping in as an excuse. But her testimony is just a big ball of fire!! I love her. She is so amazing! So this past week she said "Sisters, I want to be baptized and it has been my goal to do it by the end of this year. T is moving out. I am getting baptized! How does December 31st sound?" ..... I nearly fell off my chair. ..... YAY!!!! Miracles like this are amazing! I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!!!!! :D
It's incredible to be a part of this grand work. The Lord knows us. He knows what we need.
Mom, I loved that story you sent me from that woman's blog: miracles all around!! That story was incredible! http://thinkingaudibly.blogspot.com/2011/12/if-ever-you-doubt.html?spref=fb
I hope you are all staying safe from all that crazy wind! And Dad, I appreciated your letter of encouragement. I got your letters on Saturday, right after W's baptism was supposed to be held; your letter gave me great strength to handle the situation, even though you weren't aware of the fact! You are both truly inspired! I love you :)
The Spirit is amazing. I wish I had time to write about everything that has happened out here. I'm journal-ing as much as I can! At mealtimes I will try and write as much as I can get in. That's the only time I have!
Oh the life of a missionary: Crazy. Busy. Hard. Rewarding. Miraculous. Trying. Amazing. Simply beautiful.
....as is for the life of all of us members in this glorious Gospel!
Never forget how much I love you all (and by all, I mean ALL. All of my family, all of my friends, all of you who read this blog, and all of you who support me with your prayers and sacrifices and love. You all have blessed my life!)
HURRAH! HURRAH! HURRAH FOR ISRAEL!
Love, Sister Meg
