Hello all!
Thank you so much for the pictures! I loved them so much!! I'm glad Hunter had a fun birthday! And the SNAKE?! Eew.... Glad I wasn't there! :D
Oh, and tell Crystl thank you SOO much for the package! I got it last Monday right after I had emailed, and the banana bread was delicious (and still intact), and there were lots of great stuff in there! I'm sending her a letter anyway, but tell her I got it safe and sound and LOVED it!
And yes, wasn't General Conference amazing?!?! We had three investigators come with us to the church and watch it with us! Marie and Herbie (the mom and son getting baptized THIS SATURDAY) and our new investigator Mike! We had a lot of investigators watch from home (we hope), so it was good! It was just such a neat and amazing experience to sit there and lean over to them and say "THAT is the Prophet."
Chills everywhere! The look of amazement on their faces was unforgettable as the Spirit touched their hearts and testified that Thomas S. Monson truly IS the prophet today, and that he IS a man of God! Conference was really different for me this time around; all I could think about were inspirations for those that I'm teaching, and yet in a round about way, they were all inspirations for ME. The Spirit is amazing, and I am so grateful for it in my life! If we live worthily to have it, its presence can never leave us!
So what were all YOUR favorite talks? I loved Elder Carl B. Cook's on looking upwards! "It's better to look up!" :) It was a sweet story, and so completely relevant to everything! I loved the helium balloon analogy on carrying burdens; if we release our "burden balloon", we release it heaven-wards to Christ, because HE is the one we need to hand over all our problems and pains to. This simple and beautiful process is the Atonement! And if we all just release our balloons heaven-ward, we will see our balloon disappear over time... I loved that!
But I pretty much loved every talk, so it's hard to pick a favorite :) Tell me what you all thought!
Oh, and I have to tell you about Mike.... He came to church for the first time on Sunday with a friend who is a member. We met him in Sunday School, and he immediately had a THOUSAND questions for us! We were so excited to start teaching him! All last week we had lessons with him, and in the first lesson we committed him to baptism... He is SO ready! He's been searching religions his whole life, and has never felt satisfied with the answers he received there. But we had an answer for every question he had! The Spirit was so incredibly strong in every lesson, and that's when he told us something I'll never forget... He said, "I feel like I've been walking in the desert my whole life, and all I've been given to drink is Coca-Cola. It's good and all, but it doesn't quench my thirst; it just makes me thirstier! But now I've been given water...it's the most delicious thing I've ever tasted, and I'm never going back!"
:D :D :D The Lord truly prepares the humble-hearted, and these are the ones I pray to find! When a heart is hard the Spirit can't teach them. Right before Mike's lesson we had had a really difficult time with someone who only wanted to argue Doctrine.... And to hear those words spoken just made me so happy!! Mike will be baptized in the future, and we are so so excited for him! He has truly been prepared!!
Gosh, it's amazing! When you pray for miracles, they DO happen!
Oh, and I just have to ask.... have you all set up your mormon.org profiles?? They are strongly pushing it right now in this area, and as missionaries we are prepping the members for the lift off in Arizona that starts today! TV commercials, billboards, etc are all starting right this very minute, and every member of the church has been asked by the Prophet himself to set your profile up! If you haven't yet, do it! I have mine up! :) It's just an amazing way to share your testimony with the world... mormon.org is for all those who want to learn more about our church, and we need EVERYONE!
Anyway... off my soap box...
I love you all! I'll send you an SD card today with LOTS of pics! :) Hope you enjoy!
Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah for Israel!!!Love, Sister Meg
