February 13, 2012

Hello!!

What a glorious day to be emailing home! Today is a good day, and it's only 10:15. Mind you, my days always start at 6:30 am, so I'm already well into my day. This week was AWESOME! All of us missionaries received information last week about a last minute fireside at the church next to the Mission Home. We were all afraid it was about our new mile cuts in our cars (we're only allowed to drive so much, and we got cut again)... so there we were... sitting in the chapel, waiting for the fireside to begin. The front, outside door to the chapel opened, and in walked President and Sister H... and Sheri Dew. WHA-?!?! SO COOL!!

Apparently, Sister H and Sheri Dew are great friends, and have lived in the same home-ward for a couple of decades! So Sister Dew just decided to come for a visit to her dear friend, and speak to us. Oh my goodness, it was AMAZING. She talked to us about how "deep" our spiritual roots are! If we are not firmly and deeply rooted in this Gospel, any little tug from Satan can uproot us from where we stand. I loved it! One of my favorite quotes from her was "LIFE ISN'T ABOUT THIS LIFE". Wonderful woman.

I took good notes, so some day I'll have to share them with you! It was a great fireside, and quite a treat for all of us. We were all able to go up and shake her hand. She hugged all of the Sisters and said "This is from all of your moms back home" (I love when people do that!) :)

Well, La is still on date for this weekend to be baptized! She is very thrilled to become a part of this church. I am so so happy for her!

Le (the 10 year old investigator) is getting more and more excited about getting baptized, and I know that his mom is even more so!

The other week we were teaching B about modesty and the importance of it. As we discussed it, she said "Yeah.... I need help with this... But it's just so hard to find modest clothes! Especially for church... Will you go shopping with me?"  ..... wait. A 14 year old was asking US to go shopping with her?? I'll admit, I was shocked that she really wanted us to go with her! HECK YES WE WOULD!

So we got permission from our Mission Momma to go with B and K and B's mom to the mall to show them where to find cute and modest stuff! I can't even BEGIN to tell you how excited these girls are to go with us! It makes me so happy! Feelin' goooood.... especially since I feel kinda odd not wearing the style I usually do. That's saying something! They're cute girls, and it'll be fun :)

Thank you so much for your encouragement. When we reach those little ruts or low-points, the Lord is always there to pull us back up. Luckily, these "low-points" I've been having lately haven't been all that low; just bumpy! But I'm enjoying the ride, and learning so much about myself along the way.

I just can't believe that Madds will be 20 this month! And Buddy is starting a job? Dad's now teaching High School classes, Joey's gone, and mom's not serving papers anymore... Will ANYTHING be the same when I get back? :) That's ok. I'm changing too. And that's a good thing.

(Life isn't about this life...it's about what comes next.)

I hope we always strive to look forward, and move along in our lives with courage and faith!

This Sister loves you!
Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah for Israel!     * * *

Love, Sister M!
