I got to talk to Meganne this morning. She was at the airport and got to call us and let us know she was on her way! She sounded very good and happy. She said to tell everyone that she loves you and she says thank you very much for letters and prayers.
We got to talk for a minute about being happy. I told her I feel like I must be doing something wrong as a missionary mom because I am not sad that she will be gone for 18 months. I miss her so much and I hear of other people crying and being so sad that their kids are gone but I don't feel that way. She said she felt the same way in the MTC. She misses us terribly but Heavenly Father has comforted her to know she is in the right place and all will be well at home. She needs to go to T and learn many things.
She also said that she was not so emotional at the MTC about being away from home. I wonder if it has something to do with age? She is older than most of the Elders that go on missions. She wants to go on a mission as opposed to being expected to go like the guys are.
I'm not sure if you know this but about a year ago or more, I was sitting in the chapel waiting for church to start. Not many people were there yet so it was fairly quiet. I was thinking about my kids and Meg came in to sit down by me. I looked up at her and felt a sudden knowledge that she would be a missionary and she would be ok. I smiled at her and did not say anything to her. I wanted her to get that same message on her own.
This winter, maybe in March?, Meganne told us that she was meeting with the Bishop after church. She came home and told us she had talked to the Bishop about going on a mission. For the last few months she had been going back and forth about finishing school as she only has one more year, or following the promptings to serve the Lord. She knew she needed to pray about it but didn't want to because she really already knew the answer!
I have been so excited for Meg it is hard not to talk to anyone who will listen to me! (Ask Madds...I talk way too much about her, don't I?)
Anyway, as soon as we get her new address we will post it on here. I am sending her a package on Saturday (I am planning on having an address by then!) so if you want to put anything in there, swing it on over.
Love, Stephanie
This picture was taken at the Logan Temple. We thought it was pretty funny!
