July 2, 2012

Family,

First off.... YOU SOLD SPUD?!?!?!!? There are seriously tears streaming down my face right now, and I'm at the library.... I look like a big idiot..... oh my goodness.....
But I guess I'm glad he's in good hands.... Stupid thing stopped working, eh? But he never gave me problems! Did you tell him you loved him every day? If not, there you go: he died of a broken heart.

Any-who.... *wiping tears from cheeks* this week has been rough. (thanks for adding the cherry on top with THAT news) ;)
No, I'm just kidding. This week has been good :) Full of ups and downs, but hey, that's normal. More good than bad, I'd say!

No baptism for My yet.... she is still trying to find somewhere to live and is having no success. Via and her three kids are back home now and they all came to church yesterday! They are so excited to be baptized now that things have calmed down. It was so wonderful to see them all there yesterday: THEY LOVE CHURCH!! Ro and Be are still praying about when to get married and baptized and decided to meet with their Bishop yesterday. I hope it went well!

Jae and Dee (mom and daughter) went with us to the Temple Visitor's Center last Monday. What a POWERFUL experience!! We took them on the family walk through about Temples and eternal families, and at the end they were both very emotional. Jae (15 year old daughter) has been progressing so well and really desires to be baptized. Dee is more hesitant but still wants to learn more. But as we sat there in that small room after the movie ended we asked how they felt. Jae said she felt warm and happy and Dee said she felt at peace and that she never wanted that feeling to go away. We explained that it was the Spirit, and that it was touching their hearts confirming truth to them. We went and watched the Joseph Smith movie (the night was getting progressively powerful and spiritual!) afterwards we walked outside to the Temple. It was warm, but the sprinklers were on in the gardens to cool off the air. We stood there by the fountain looking at the brightly lit Temple against the night sky. We asked Jae and Dee if they would follow the example of our Savior Jesus Christ and be baptized. They both smiled and said that they were talking about that earlier that day. We were shocked and so excited! They accepted the invitation to be baptized on July 14th, but told us they want to learn more first (only of course!). Yesterday they fasted and prayed about their baptism date, but only Jae came to church. Dee belongs another church and wanted to go back just one more time to see how it all went... It really concerns me, but I hope she notices the difference when she is at ours. All in all, we're working with them in recognizing the Spirit and keeping their commitments to read the BoM and continue praying. Jae is solid, Dee will get there :)

It's funny: Jae, Ro and Be, Viia and her three kids, our recent converts Jer and Au were all on the bench with us yesterday in Sacrament Meeting. FULL HOUSE! And that was only for one ward! Their ward is doing so well in missionary work.... the Lord has blessed them tremendously!

Our new ward is full of so much potential! All week we focused on visiting part-member families and families with children over the age of 8 who are not yet baptized... we want to set up some FHE's (Family Home Evenings) with them to get to know them and teach them the Gospel. We were pretty well received, and the wards are noticing our diligence. Once a ward notices they begin to trust you with their friends: already we've had quite a few referrals from members!

THE WORK GOES ON!!

The temperatures lately have been BLAZING but thank Heavens for our car! We're so blessed! Speaking of which I smashed out the back window of our car with our bike rack the other day...

*ahem* SO! ANYWAY!

............

So here's what happened.... the Jr comp in every companionship is the designated "backer"... I was parked in a stall and needed to back out. She was not watching and neither was I as I backed just a tad too far into a pole (our Vibe has HORRIBLE blind spots... never buy a Vibe.) and the pressure was just right on our bike rack that it busted the window. Needless to say our car is insured and my driving privileges have not been revoked. I felt awful!! I called up our vehicle coordinator in near tears (I was a big girl and didn't cry) (unlike today) and he was very kind to me about it. That morning I was going to take off our bike rack because we never use it, but had an impression to just leave it on. Imagine what damage our car would've had if I had taken it off... UGH! Elder Jon (vehicle coord) said that it would've been a lot more money to have to fix the entire back door rather than JUST the window. The Spirit knew my future mistake and saved us a great deal.....

Oh how I hate learning from stupid mistakes... *face-palm*

Well I'm so excited for the 4th of July! It's too hot here that no one does much for the holiday, but we are having a ward breakfast and flag ceremony and then I'm assuming we'll have to be home and indoors before sundown. I'm so grateful for our heritage in this great land. May our rights and privileges and everything our fathers have fought for be preserved throughout time! The Fourth of July is my favorite holiday (besides Christmas) and there's good reason for it. Pay tribute to those who have sacrificed time, family, effort, and even their lives to preserve our liberties. But most importantly, pay tribute to Heavenly Father for all of our blessings.

We are a blessed generation and amidst all this turmoil and trouble in the world we need to be strong and stand up for what is right. If you want to read more about our Founding Fathers go to lds.org and search The Constitution- A Glorious Standard by Ezra Taft Benson. It's beautiful!
I love you all, and I am so grateful to have you all in my life. The Lord knows us. He cares about us. He wants us to be happy :) He loves us.
'Till next week!
Hurrah for Israel!  * * *
Love, Sister Sunscreen
