Dearest family,
Talk about new investigators! This week we picked up a good handful of amazing people to teach!! People who are prepared for this message are just falling from the sky!
There is so much potential in this area. We were supposed to have a baptism this past Saturday, but it was moved to this coming Saturday. She is a cute little ten year old girl from a less-active family. Ever since she turned 8 she has begged her mom for her chance to be baptized and come to church. She's so sweet, and such a special little girl. She knows what is right, and wants to do the right thing. We hope the baptism stays on for Saturday!
W, our investigator who is quitting drinking, is going strong! Today is his one week mark and he is doing so well! We are still cautious and aware of the fact that there will be weak moments and times of discouragement and withdrawal... I'm nervous for when that actually happens since it hasn't yet. But so many prayers and fasts have/are going into his efforts. I know that with the help of the Lord we can do anything! Even if it's quitting an addiction you've had for over 40 years! We can do it!
The other day I told him the story of Nephi and his command to get the brass plates. W feels like he is Nephi; standing at the edge of something difficult, sword in hand, not knowing what to do! But as we urge him forward, and as the Spirit comforts and directs him in his life, he will be able to do all the Lord has for him to do.
It's just so cool to see the change in people's lives!
Like the N family! We've only met with L, the mom, and her three boys. Her father E joined in our last lesson. Her husband works and is NOT interest, but we still teach the family. As we taught the Restoration you could see their little faces light up! even L and E were touched by the Spirit of truth, and knew that what they were hearing were true accounts. L told us that she felt so at peace, but so sad that her husband won't listen... deep down she knows it to be true, and one day her husband's heart will be softened to hear the truth... We'll keep you posted ;)
But yes.... it is now officially FREEZING here! My blood is thinning out and today is actually rainy and a nice temperature of 65*....and I feel like I'm in an ice box. I shouldn't complain at all, (considering you guys have SNOW!!) but I'm truly acclimated to the heat; SO MUCH, in fact, that anything below 80* is cold.... Which has NEVER happened to me until now. Meh. I'll take it though! If this is the way the Lord is going to bless me with handling the heat in the summer then so be it :) I'm grateful! (and freezing) hehe So good luck finding my winter stuff.... jacket, scarves, black earmuffs and all... I can't wait to get them! Thank you :)
To my friend back home: A mission is no walk in the park! I send him my love and he is in my prayers. I hope and pray that all of our missionaries from our ward are having success and are seeing many miracles! I know that the Lord loves all of his missionaries, no matter what we're going through, have to see and deal with, and all the work that is asked of us...
Success is NOT measured by how many baptisms we have; but by our efforts and dedication to the Lord. If we are devoted and do all we can, even if the numbers don't show, we are still successful.
That's the way it is with life, too... We may not have the best of things, or the most glamorous job, or the best situation, but when we are obedient, faithful, devoted to our loving Heavenly Father, THEN is our success measured!
I just love it. And I love you all so much! I'm glad things at Primary and work and home and with the family are going well! My heart is happy in knowing all is well back on the home-front! ;)
I love you!
Love, Sister Sunscreen
