I can't believe December is almost gone! And I only posted one of Meg's emails. Yikes! (and sorry!) I want to share something with you about the LOVE of GOD and His limitless mercy.
I finally got Meganne's Christmas box put together and got it to the post office on Saturday, December 15. The clerk asked if I wanted express delivery for $20 (it would arrive on Monday) or priority for Wednesday delivery ($12). Wednesday was good! I got insurance and a tracking #. The next week I forgot to check tracking. By Friday afternoon (the 21st) when I checked, the post office web site said it was in Denver and had been there since Monday.
I didn't panic...yet. Maybe the post office just hadn't updated their website. Maybe she did get it. I had no way to call her and find out.
I had received a phone call from a lovely lady, Cindy, in her area who was excited to have Meg and her comp over for Christmas Day. They were going to skype their families from her house. So...I DID have a way to contact Meg. I called Cindy and told her my story. Could she just call and make sure Meg had received her box? She called me back right away and said that no box had arrived and Meganne had been looking for it all week. But she wanted me to know that she wasn't worried. She was just really excited to talk and see us on Christmas.
Cindy offered to get something for Meg from us on Saturday as she still needed to go out. Or did I want to FedEx something down for arrival on Monday?
Now I started to panic. What do I send her? Duplicate everything I already got? How much would overnight on FedEx cost? Would the post office box show up the same time as the new box? AARRGGHH! Cindy said she would call me back on Saturday to find out what she could do.
I looked at the receipts from the 15th and noticed something different on Meg's than on all the other packages I had mailed. They all showed that they were mailed Priority but Meg's said "Package Services". I then found out that it was actually 4th class mail. The clerk had marked everything as package services even though we paid priority mail. 4th class mail is usually stuff like bulk mail, magazines, and stuff that gets shipped only when there is room on the truck/plane after all the 1st class and priority mail gets on! No wonder it was still in Denver!
I didn't sleep very well that night. Saturday morning as I said my prayers I asked Heavenly Father to help us if He had a mind to. Meg is an adult and seemed ok with not getting her Christmas, but she has had a rough month in her new area. Heavenly Father would be the only One to help get that package onto the next plane out of Denver. If He knew that she truly needed to get that package by Christmas, please help it get there.
I finished my prayer and felt calm. I knew that Heavenly Father would take care of Meganne the way only He would know how. I left the house to finish my shopping for the weekend and didn't think anything more about mail or boxes or doing anything mean to the post office!
About noon Cindy called and I told her thank you for all the support she had given and offered. I let her know I had turned the situation over to Heavenly Father. She said she had just talked to Meg again and Meg really wanted me to know that she was ok and happy and didn't want me to worry all weekend about her or her presents.
That night Maddie called me and told me that the post office web site had updated and said her box was now in Pix (just a few miles from where she is now)!
Some of you might be thinking that this was just a coincidence but I KNOW without a doubt that my prayers were heard. I KNOW that Heavenly Father knows who we are and what we need. I KNOW that He loves us.
On Monday, we got Meganne's email and we didn't get it until after three. She said she hadn't gotten the box yet but was excited to "See" us the next day.
About ten minutes later Cindy called and said Meganne had just called her. She had just gotten home and the package was on her doorstep. Merry Christmas Eve!
I know this post was long and not from Meg but I just wanted to share with you our huge Christmas story.
